How Is Living In Maldives? Honestly & Briefly Explained...
Living in the Maldives is different to pretty much anywhere else in the world I guess. Here are some things you should consider before deciding to move to paradise....
- You will (unless you live in Male) live in a Resort, or as some living here call it- 5* Alcatraz :o) - You will be under constant supervision. Either from guests or your line staff. Hence no personal life. - Some islands are very small (mine is 100mx500m). And, you cannot just go somewhere else. Depending on the island it can be very challenging to get transfers to Male. Hence you might be stuck on your little piece of Island for months at a time. - Shopping? Non existent as we know it. Cinema? Forget it. Hitting the Bars? Nope. - You need to tune down. REALLY tune down!! Everything takes a "tiny little bit longer" than in Europe.
You need to be laid-back, easygoing, self-entertaining, adjustable and happy in your own company.
If you think you can deal with all of the above, then you will be highly rewarded: - You will meet awesome people from all over the world. Plus Maldivians are funny, friendly and really helpful. - Obviously you will work in an mind blowing environment which can hardly be topped. - It is very easy to safe some money (due to mentioned above points) and almost no cost of living and no wage tax. - Barefoot 24/7!! No need to explain that one further :o) - No commuting to work= no traffic jams, no angry people on trains, no hustle and bustle. - Wanna go Diving during your break? Off you go. Windsurfing before meeting? Grab the board. :o) - Sunshine almost year around
Sitting barefoot in the office and holding your daily meetings with views over the turquoise Indian ocean....
